Challenge Overview
DOD lacks a tool to consistently evaluate data and AI models
The analytics dashboard summarize evaluations of datasets and machine learning models against standardized criteria—such as gender bias, data drift, and explainability—surfacing actionable metrics and flags for noncompliance. By translating complex statistical evaluations into user-friendly visual summaries, the platform enables transparent, data-driven conversations between executives and technical teams about AI risk, readiness, and ethical compliance.
Contributions
As the design lead on a cross-functional team of 10, I directly managed UX research and UI design while partnering closely with project managers, data scientists, a tech vendor, and high-level stakeholders. My role required not just delivering elegant, user-centered interfaces—but also advising on how complex data insights should be surfaced and interpreted by non-technical decision-makers. I facilitated alignment across diverse teams by translating machine learning outputs into actionable, visual frameworks, enabling consistent dialogue around risk, performance, and compliance.
