Being in DC, we are surrounded by federal designers who are lone wolves working to improve government services. While I am not currently a government employee, I do understand the struggle of moving beyond a safe blue palette and san serif fonts. But clarity is the baseline not the end result; products can still be legible without losing the ability to entice and engage. (Just look at the design trends in the midterm election campaigns.)
As a subscriber to David Jonathan Ross’s Font of the Month Club, I had the advantage of early access to variable fonts such as Rhody here to do the heavy lifting. (Also type conferences are a great way to get insider information, such as Darden Studio’s Halyard Micro which was was promoted on a coaster. I saw it every time I took as sip of coffee.)
With that, I am thrilled to share this work that was featured on Fonts in Use.
